Teaching

I missed it already

Teaching was an important part of my job in academia. My goal in teaching was to help the students to master the key message of the course, teach them to understand why and to what extent the details matter, and enable them to understand the concepts as if they developed the material on their own. To achieve this goal, I combine the course material with simple, intuitive, and tangible real-world examples and phenomena, preferably by asking students to provide their own examples. My students have never been asked to memorize anything and instead, they learn to think critically and logically. I used the strength of different teaching methods to achieve my teaching goals. I learned a variety of methods over time and enriched my knowledge of teaching by readings, personal experience (as a student, as an instructor, and from my previous jobs), teaching workshops, and conferences.
